Greetings, dear reader.
I hope you're wonderfully well.
Whether you're completely new here, a previous subscriber to my letter or are joining us from Three Beautiful Things, welcome to Yonderspell.
Autumn and winter has been particularly grey, wet and windy here in our part of the shire, and Mark and I have hunkered down, focusing on keeping warm, making wholesome food, and feeling grateful for the modest comforts of home. I haven't been particularly active online but I have been creative, and have made progress with our plans for the Yonderspell Journal. Indeed, the debut issue is now being edited in readiness for publication (all going well) late February. Here’s a preview of the cover…
Producing the first issue has been a relatively slow process, partly due to circumstances but mostly because some things just take time to realise. Having a vision about how you want something to be is one thing; bringing that vision into reality is another. But we are moving forwards, noting that Yonderspell is a work in progress. We’re just thrilled to be a step closer to publication.
Out & About
Mark and I recently travelled north to Sedbergh (England’s Book Town) in the Yorkshire Dales, taking the more scenic route. The weather was appalling with constant rain.
There was so much flood water on the roads and low-lying fields but it didn’t stop us from visiting Westwood Books, one of our favourite book shops. It also happens to be the largest book store in the Yorkshire Dales. As usual, we came away with a few purchases including Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake, which is fascinating.
Locally, I have caught up with friends at Heskin Hall, Lancashire, and enjoyed exploring this historic house, which is an antiques centre and a popular events venue.
And I’ve been celebrating the fairly rare moments when the sun has made an appearance. How the light changes everything.
As we emerge from winter, I’ll be out & about with Mark exploring and gathering insights, ideas and inspiration for my writing and creative practices. I look forward to sharing these travels with you.
Bright wishes,
Carol xx
